(For example, 30\u201d \/ 8 = 3.75\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To find the bottom width, multiply the top width by 3. (For example, 3.75\u201d x 3 = 11.25\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add 1.25 inches (for seam allowance) to the top and bottom widths. (For example, 3.75\u201d + 1.25\u201d = 5\u201d; 11.25\u201d + 1.25\u201d = 12.5\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divide the results in half. These are the measurements you use in making the skirt pattern. (For example, 5\u201d \/ 2 = 2.5\u201d; 12.5\u201d \/ 2 = 6.25\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"make_the_pattern\"><\/span>Make the Pattern<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trim the paper so that it\u2019s about two inches longer than the length you want the skirt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fold the paper in half lengthwise. Starting from the fold, mark the distance of the top and bottom widths (step 5 of the previous section) at the paper&#8217;s top and bottom.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connect these two points with a straight line.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut along this line and unfold the paper to complete the skirt pattern.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"sew_the_skirt\"><\/span>Sew the Skirt<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut out eight sections of fabric using your skirt pattern.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Match up two of the sections right sides together, then stitch them together along one of the long edges.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfold these sections and place another area right side down on top of one of the first, matching them up and stitching them together along the unsewn long edge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfold this added section, then keep adding and stitching sections right sides together.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Press all the seams flat.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"make_the_waistband\"><\/span>Make the Waistband<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut a rectangle of fabric that\u2019s 6\u201d wide and slightly longer than the skirt&#8217;s top edge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fold it in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch across the long edge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turn the waistband right side out using a safety pin.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Press the waistband flat, then pin it face down to the top of the skirt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stitch the waistband to the skirt, then flip the band up and iron the seam flat.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To finish the skirt, pin the two ends right sides together. Baste them together, then add a zipper.
